Getting Started with Certifier's Issue Credential action
In this guide, you’ll learn how to configure the Issue Credential action for the Certifier app. This action lets you automate credential issuance through Certifier Automations. Let's get started!
Open the Action Configuration
Click on the Action card on the automation's canvas to open the configuration drawer.
App: Choose Certifier as your app.
Event: Select the Issue credential option.
Press Continue to move to Configuration.
Configure the Issue Credential Action
Group: Select the group to which you want to issue credentials. Click on the field to expand it, then choose the group's name from the list.
Recipient Name: Map to the field that stores the recipients’ full names. To do so, type {{
into the input box or press + to open the list with available fields.
💡 Tip: If first and last names are in separate fields, add them one by one separated by a space.
Example: {{Column A}} {{Column B}}
(if Column A contains the first name and Column B contains the last name)
Recipient Email: Map to the field that stores the recipients' emails.
Issue Date (optional): Leave this field blank to set the credentials' issue date to the date when your automation is triggered. Map this field only if you want to set custom issue dates for your credentials.
Expiration Date (optional): Leave this field blank if the credentials should not expire or if the selected group already defines an expiry date. Map this field only if you want to set custom expiry dates for your credentials or override the group’s settings.
⚠️ Important: Issue & expiration date fields accept YYYY-MM-DD format only
When mapping issue and expiration dates to custom values, make sure they are in the YYYY-MM-DD format. Any other format will cause the automation to fail, and the credential will not be issued.
Issue Credential: Choose whether you want your credentials to be automatically issued when your automation is triggered (True) or if you prefer to save credentials as a draft and publish them manually from the Certifier dashboard (False).
💡 Tip: If you want to test an automation before making it live, set Send Credential to False. This will create credentials as drafts only – nothing will be sent to recipients. Once you’ve confirmed the workflow works as expected, recreate the automation with Send Credential set to True to send them out.
Send Credential: Choose whether you want your credentials to be automatically emailed to the recipient once issued (True) or not (False).
Custom attributes (optional): If you see additional fields, these are custom attributes available on your account (for example, course name, speaker name, etc.).
To use them in the automation, map them just like you did with Recipient Name and Recipient Email fields.
Once you're happy with everything, press Submit.
Return to your Original Guide
Once you’ve configured the action, it’s critical to return to your original integration guide.
⚠️ Important: Each app has rules and limitations that apply after activation
Every app (Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, HubSpot, Airtable, etc.) has critical rules that apply after activation. These rules are explained at the end of your original integration guide. Be sure to return there before activating to make sure your automation works as expected.
