What are Dynamic Attributes?

Dynamic Attributes are placeholders in your credential designs that automatically insert details (such as a recipient's name) into each credential.

For example, if your design has the placeholder [recipient.name], Certifier will replace it with the recipient’s actual name when generating the credential.

With attributes, you only need one template to create hundreds of credentials – saving time and eliminating repetitive manual work.

👉 Learn more about attributes in our Guide to Attributes.

💡 Advanced Attributes are available on Professional and Advanced plans.

How do Advanced Attributes work?

By default, Dynamic Attributes in Certifier use only one data type: Text.

With Advanced Attributes, you can go beyond text and also use Number, Date, or Image – making your credentials more customizable and powerful.

Let’s take a closer look at each attribute type and how it can be used.

⚠️ Important: After you create an attribute, you can’t change its type. If you need a different type, delete the old one and make a new attribute from scratch.

Text attributes

Text attributes are the most commonly used type. Use Text attributes for details such as: recipient names, course titles, instructor names, or any other generic text values.

💡 Tip: Avoid special characters like ", &, \, +, <, >, =, @, and '. These may cause formatting issues or prevent your text from displaying correctly.

Number attributes

Number attributes are used for any numeric data you want to display on your credential. They’re perfect for course duration, points earned, or CPD/CPE credits.

💡 Tip: Use Arabic numerals (0–9) and standard decimal points (. or ,) to ensure numbers are displayed correctly.

Date attributes

Date attributes ensure that all important dates on your credentials are displayed clearly and consistently. They’re ideal for showing issue, expiry, or course completion dates.

💡 Tip: You can set a consistent date format in Settings → Attributes. Simply click the cogwheel icon next to the attribute you’d like to update.

Image attributes

Beyond text and numbers, you can also use Image attributes to make your credentials more personalized and visually appealing. Image attributes are great for:

  • Recipient photos – adding a personal touch and strengthening the credibility of achievements

  • Custom signatures – showing the trainer’s or instructor’s signature automatically

  • Logos or symbols – perfect for co-branded certificates or event-specific designs

💡 Tip: To display an image in your credential design, make sure it’s available via a public link. The correct link structure is: https://example.com/yourimage.png or https://example.com/yourimage.jpg).
