š Attributes are placeholders in your certificate templates that allow you to insert dynamic information into your certificates. If you want to learn more, check our Guide to attributes!
Introduction
When designing your certificate, you donāt need to manually enter recipient names or a group name. Thatās because Certifier uses dynamic attributes - placeholders that are automatically filled with the correct data when you issue credentials.
For example, the recipient name attribute ([recipient.name]
) is a required field in every design. You wonāt see a real name in the Design Builder, but donāt worry - when you issue the certificate, that placeholder will be replaced with the actual recipientās name you provided.
It works similarly for any other attributes - such as Issue Date or Group Name. While they can be removed from your design, they can't be filled on this step.
ā ļø Important: The Recipient Name field is obligatory in every certificate design, and cannot be removed. Itās meant to be filled automatically when you issue credentials. You wonāt see real names in the preview until that step is done.
How do I fill in the Recipient Name with my data?
All you need to do is issue credentials. During the issuing process, youāll provide the recipient data (like names, emails, etc.), and Certifier will automatically replace the dynamic attributes on your certificate with that information.
Hereās how it works:
Add dynamic attributes to your certificate design.
Upload recipient data when issuing credentials (manually or via spreadsheet).
Certifier fills in the blanks - names, dates, course titles, and more.
And that's it! No need to edit your design every time. Just create your certificate once, and Certifier will handle the rest šŖ

What about other fields, like Group Name or my Custom Attributes?
Just like Recipient Name, all other dynamic attributes, either the default or custom ones you've added, are filled in automatically during the issuing step.
These fields are optional, but they work the same way. You just need to include the corresponding data when adding your recipients.
š§ Keep in mind: Recipient Name is the only mandatory dynamic attribute in every design. The rest are optional, but just as easy to use and personalize.
What about the Issue date?
Just like other dynamic attributes, the Issue date will be filled during the issuing process, even if you do not specify the date while adding recipients.
By default, the Issue date is automatically set to the day you issue the credentials, but you can also change it in multiple ways - you'll be able to set one for the whole batch of recipients while previewing your credentials, or even provide the custom dates for each recipient while adding data.
What about the Certificate ID?
The Certificate ID (also known as certificate.uuid
) is a unique identifier that gets generated automatically by Certifier during the issuing process. It ensures every credential has a secure, traceable ID.
While it's not possible to customize or shorten it for security reasons, you can choose to exclude it from your certificate design altogether. Simply remove the corresponding custom attribute from your design if you donāt want the ID to appear on the final certificate.
