How to change your subscription

To make any changes to your current subscription, you will need to:

  1. Log in to your Certifier Dashboard

  2. Click on the Upgrade button at the top of the page
(or go to Account → Settings → Payments & Plans → Upgrade Your Plan)

  3. Select the new plan you want to switch to (Starter / Professional / Advanced).

  4. Adjust your credential limit if needed.

  5. Decide whether you want to use add-ons (Premium Branding, Verified Issuer)

  6. Confirm your changes in the summary on the right.

Your new plan will take effect right away, and you’ll receive a confirmation email.

Thinking about canceling instead?

No problem - you can cancel your subscription anytime as well. For detailed steps and important info, check out this article:

What happens when you upgrade?

When you move to a higher-tier plan, Certifier automatically calculates the cost based on your current billing cycle:

  • The remaining balance from your existing plan is credited toward the new plan

  • You only pay the prorated difference

  • Your billing remains fair and transparent, with no double charges

This means you're only paying for the upgrade itself - nothing more.

You’ll also immediately unlock all the features and benefits of the new plan, including higher credential limits and advanced functionality (depending on the plan selected).

What happens when you downgrade?

If you choose to switch to a lower-tier paid plan, the unused portion of your current subscription will be automatically credited toward your next renewal. This means you won’t lose any value - your account will simply apply the remaining balance to future charges.

Just like with upgrades, changes take effect immediately, and you'll receive a summary before confirming.

FAQ

I issued 250/1000/1500 credentials - why can't I downgrade to a lower credential limit?

  • If you've already issued more credentials than a lower-tier plan allows, you won't be able to downgrade until your annual credential limit resets.

For example, if your current plan allows 2,000 credentials and you've already issued 1,500, you can't switch to a plan with a 1,000 or 250 credential limit.

Your annual limit resets once a year on your registration anniversary. So, if you registered on April 9, 2025, your credential count will reset to 0 on April 9, 2026.

What if I need more credentials than I currently have?

  • If you run out of credentials, you’ll need to upgrade your plan to increase the limit. The upgrade will be processed on a prorated basis, meaning any unused time from your current subscription will be credited toward the new plan.

Will changing my plan affect the credentials I’ve already issued?

  • No. Changing or canceling your subscription does not impact credentials that have already been issued. They will remain active and accessible for both you and your recipients.

What happens if I cancel my plan after changing it?

  • If you decide to cancel after upgrading or downgrading, your plan will remain active until the end of the billing cycle. You can learn more about the cancellation process in our How to cancel your subscription article.

Can I change my subscription mid-cycle?

  • Yes! You can upgrade or downgrade your subscription at any point during your billing cycle. Certifier will always apply prorated pricing to ensure you only pay for what you use.

I just renewed or upgraded my subscription - why didn’t my credential limit reset?

  • Credential limits do not reset with each payment or upgrade. They are tied to your annual usage window, which starts on the day you initially subscribed (or last reset your limit by starting a new cycle). Upgrading your plan will increase your available limit, but it won’t start a new annual cycle.

💡 Tip: You can check when your credential limit will reset in your account settings:
