My Custom Attributes look wrong after issuing - how to fix it?

Adjust the Scaling setting to control how custom attributes fit on your certificate.

πŸ““ If the text inside your custom attributes looks too small, too big, or doesn't display the way you'd like on your certificate design, you can solve it with the Scaling setting.

What is Scaling?

Scaling is an optional setting you can toggle on or off for each custom attribute in the Design Builder. It controls how the text adjusts inside the attribute container.

  • When Scaling is enabled: the text automatically resizes to fit the width of the attribute box. This helps prevent line breaks and keeps the layout consistent, especially if recipient names or other attribute values vary in length.

  • When Scaling is disabled: the text will appear in its default size. If the text is too long for the container, it will break into multiple lines. This gives you more control over styling and can improve readability, especially for longer names or multi-word values. However, you cannot control the size of the container in the final result.

Here's how the same certificate looks when we enable or disable the scaling for the recipient's name:

As you can see, the results are different - that's why when you change the scaling settings, you need to make sure to adjust your design accordingly!

πŸ’‘ By default, we recommend keeping the Scaling on.

When should you disable Scaling?

Here are some common reasons you might want to turn Scaling off:

  • You want long values to break into multiple lines instead of shrinking to a tiny font.

  • You prefer a consistent font size regardless of the value length.

  • Your current scaling settings make your text look too small or visually unbalanced.

How to change the Scaling setting for a custom attribute

  1. Open the Design Builder.

  2. Click on the text box that contains your custom attribute (e.g., [recipient.name]).

  3. In the right-side panel, look for the Scaling toggle.

  4. Turn it off if you want fixed-size text that can break into multiple lines.

  5. Turn it on if you want the text to automatically adjust its size to fit the box.

  6. Save the changes.

Experiment with both options to see what works best for your design and the data you’ll be using!

πŸ’‘ Tip: You can freely edit the designs, even if you have already issued credentials. Just remember that the changes will be reflected in all previously issued certificates.
