Why do I need a badge design?
Before creating a Group and issuing credentials, you'll need to prepare a badge design. Luckily, you can design a badge in just a few simple steps!
How to create a Badge Design?

Now, let's get started!
1. Create a new design
Log in to your Certifier Dashboard and navigate to the Designs tab. There, just click on + Create Design → Badge Design:
❗️Note: Your changes will not be saved unless you press Create Design to save them.
2. Choose the Badge design
To start the creative process, you have a few options:
Select the Badge template from the ones provided by Certifier
You can browse through the many ready-to-go templates and select the one that meets your needs. You can freely edit the colors of the template- either by selecting them from the color scale or by pasting the HEX codes:
Start from scratch
If you have an idea for a badge that you would like to create from scratch, that's easy - you can simply remove all the elements with two clicks!
Upload your own design
If you’d like to upload your custom badge design, you can add it as an Image in the Images tab. Learn more about it in the next section of this article!
3. Upload Logos and Images
In the Images section, you can upload images like signatures or company logos, as well as your own badge design.
❗️Note: We accept JPG, SVG, and PNG files. The maximum size of the element is 2 MB.
💡 If you want to remove the background from your images, check this guide for more details!
4. Add graphic elements to improve the design
Once you're in the Elements section, you can add more elements to make your design even more appealing - browse through categories like lines, shapes, icons, ribbons, and bases to choose the elements that work best for your designs!
You can freely change the shape, size, and colors of all the elements! Additionally, you can adjust the layers right away. If you want to learn more about managing them, skip to this part of the article.
You can also group any elements - thanks to that, you'll be able to move all elements around without losing your composition!
5. Add Text elements and adjust the Fonts
Text section allows you to add text boxes of different kinds, as well as use preset combinations. You can choose from various fonts and adjust the size according to your taste!
6. Add Dynamic Attributes
💡 Attributes are dynamic elements that you can use to create and personalize issued badges. For example, the [recipient.name] attribute will be replaced with the real name of your recipient. Thus, this attribute is obligatory for bulk credential sending.
You can learn more about the custom attributes here.
In the Attributes section, you can add the custom attribute just by clicking the Use button next to it:
You can also create Custom Attributes by clicking on Add attribute button. This feature is useful if you need to add custom variables to your badges (like Instructor name, Level of Training, or Custom Expiration Date):
7. Adjust the Dynamic Attributes
Once you add the custom attributes, make sure to adjust the Alignment (Left/Center/Right) - it will affect the way the text is displayed in the attribute container.
Finally, decide if you’d like to have Scaling enabled. Auto-scaling means that the text size is dynamic and automatically adjusts to the size of the container.
❗️We recommend keeping Scaling enabled to ensure that the content of the attribute is displayed properly.
8. Add a QR code to your certificate
👑 QR codes are only available for our Professional plan or above users. Check this guide to learn more about them!
QR code increases the credibility of your credentials. It helps to prevent the badges your recipients share from being forged by redirecting the viewers to the correct digital version of the credential.
You can also add custom code with a Custom URL - it will direct your recipient to a page you choose, such as your website or other courses.
Once you add the code, you will also be able to change the colors and size of the code, as well as the description attached - you can also remove it completely.
9. Manage Layers
After you add all the necessary elements, you can easily manage them in the Layers section. You'll see all the images, elements, and texts right there, in order of being the most front-set.
You can click on any element to see where it is positioned. If you want to adjust the order, you can simply drag and drop the elements on the list:
Once you're happy with the design, remember to Save the changes at the top right corner (next to the name).
Well done! Your perfect badge design is ready to go :)
💡To issue your new design to recipients, you will need to create a Group - learn more about this process here!
