Why do I need a certificate design?

Before creating a Group and issuing credentials, you need to prepare a certificate design. Luckily, you can do it in just a few simple steps!

How to create a Certificate Design?

👉 If you want to skip to specific functions, try these links:

Now, let's get started!

1. Create a new design

Log in to your Certifier Dashboard and navigate to the Designs tab. There, just click on + Create Design Certificate Design:

❗️Note: Your changes will not be saved unless you press Create Design to save it.

2. Choose the page orientation and certificate template

After you decide certificate Orientation (Landscape or Portrait), you can browse through up to 300+ templates Certifier has to offer.

To find the most suitable one, filter them by Category, Style & Color:

You can also decide on the Paper Size - choose between A4 and US letter format.

3. Make adjustments to the background

If you'd like to personalize the design even more, you can easily modify how the background looks. You can try to:

  • Change the background color completely

To start fresh, you can simply choose a background color for your design - either by selecting it on the color scale or by pasting the HEX code you'd like to use:

  • Upload your own design

If you’d like to upload your custom background or use your own certificate as one, just click on Add Custom Background. The image you upload will be automatically adjusted to the orientation you chose.

❗️Note: We accept JPG, SVG, and PNG files. The maximum size of the file is 2MB.

4. Upload Logos and Images

In the Images section, you can upload signatures or company logos and remove the ones you don't want to use.

❗️Note: We accept JPG, SVG, and PNG files. The maximum size of the element is 2 MB.

💡 If you want to remove the background from your images, check this guide for more details!

5. Add graphic elements to improve the design

Once you're in the Elements section, you can add more elements to make your design even more appealing - browse through categories like lines, shapes, icons, ribbons, and bases to choose the elements that work best for your designs!

You can freely change the shape, size, and colors of all the elements. Additionally, you can adjust the layers right away. Skip to this part of the article to learn how to manage layers.

You can also move all elements around without losing your composition using the Group function.

6. Add Text elements and adjust the Fonts

The text section allows you to add text boxes of different kinds, as well as use preset combinations. You can choose from various fonts and adjust the size according to your taste.

7. Add Dynamic Attributes

💡 Attributes are dynamic elements that you can use to create and personalize issued certificates. For example, the [recipient.name] attribute will be replaced with the real name of your recipient. Thus, this attribute is obligatory for bulk certificate sending.

You can learn more about the custom attributes here.

In the Attributes section, you can add the custom attribute just by clicking the Use button next to it:

You can also create Custom Attributes by clicking on the + Add attribute button. This feature is useful if you need to add custom variables to your certificates (like Instructor name, Level of Training, or Location):

8. Adjust the Dynamic Attributes

Once you add the custom attributes, make sure to adjust the Alignment (Left/Center/Right) - it will affect the way how the text is displayed in the attribute container.

Finally, decide if you’d like to have Scaling enabled. Auto-scaling means that the text size is dynamic and automatically adjusts to the size of the container.

❗️We recommend keeping Scaling enabled to ensure that the content of the attribute is displayed properly.

9. Add a QR code to your certificate

👑 QR codes are only available for our Professional plan or above users. Check this guide to learn more about them!

QR code increases the credibility of your certificates. It helps to prevent printed certificates from being forged by redirecting the viewers to the correct digital version of the credential.

You can also add custom code with a Custom URL - it will direct your recipient to a page you choose, such as your website or other courses.

Once you add the code, you will also be able to change its colors and size as well as the description attached.

10. Manage Layers

After you add all the necessary elements, you can easily manage them in the Layers section. You'll see all the images, elements, and texts right there, in order of being the most front-set.

You can click on any element to see where it is positioned. If you want to adjust the order, you can simply drag and drop the elements on the list:

Once you're happy with the design, remember to Save the changes at the top right corner (next to the name).

Well done! Your perfect certificate design is ready to go :)

💡 To issue certificates with a new design to recipients, proceed with creating a Group - learn more about this process here!
