⚠️ Important note: Our video guides mention using Groups, which are now called Credential Templates. No need to worry! Only the name changes — the setup process is the same.
Getting Started with Eventbrite Automations
Certifier Automations follow a simple “trigger → action” logic.
A trigger happens in Eventbrite (for example, an attendee checks in at your event).
An action happens in Certifier (for example, issuing a credential).
Currently, there are 2 available triggers for Eventbrite:
Trigger: Attendee Checked In
This trigger issues a credential whenever an attendee checks in to your connected Eventbrite event.
Step 1. Configure the Trigger
Open the Trigger Configuration and select Eventbrite as the app, then choose Attendee Checked In as the event.
Connect your Eventbrite account via OAuth: click on the Account field → +Connect New Account, sign in, and approve access.
Sign in to Eventbrite, and approve access by pressing Allow.Select the Organization (1) and Event (2) to monitor from the list.
Click Save & Continue. Your trigger is ready. 🎉
Step 2. Configure the Action
Next, you’ll need to configure the action. To do so, open this guide in a new tab: Configuring Certifier Action: Issue Credential
⚠️ Important: The instructions for this step are laid out in a separate guide.
We recommend opening the action setup guide in a new tab so you can easily return to this article afterwards. Once you finish configuring the action, make sure to come back here to finalize and activate your automation.
Important Notes
A credential is issued once when the attendee is checked in – either by the attendee or manually, by the Eventbrite admin.
If an attendee's check-in is cancelled, and they later check in again, a credential is issued again.
Attendees already checked in before you activate the trigger will not receive credentials (unless you purposely check them in later).
Removing an attendee from the event does not revoke any credentials already issued.
The attendee must have a valid email in Eventbrite; otherwise, the automation skips them and logs an error.
Trigger: Attendee Registered
This trigger issues a credential whenever an attendee is registered to your connected Eventbrite event.
Step 1. Configure the Trigger
Open the Trigger Configuration and select Eventbrite as the app, then choose Attendee Registered as the event.
A credential is issued once when the attendee is registered – either via shared link or invite, or manually, by the Eventbrite admin.
If an attendee is removed from the event and later registered again, a credential is issued again.
Attendees already registered before you activate the trigger will not receive credentials (unless you purposely register them for the event again later).
Removing an attendee from the event does not revoke any credentials already issued.
The attendee must have a valid email in Eventbrite; otherwise, the automation skips them and logs an error.
Wrapping Up
That’s it! 🎓
With the Eventbrite trigger in Certifier Automations, you can automatically issue credentials the moment attendees check in or register for your event — ensuring recognition for attendance is always timely and consistent.
